Abbiamo recentemente notato, per puro caso, un'incredibile affinità tra un episodio della quarta stagione di "The Avengers" (Agente Speciale) intitolato "The House That Jack Built" e la nostra serie preferita.
L'oggetto in questione è uno strano meccanismo rotante che Emma Peel scopre in una dimora nella quale è tenuta prigioniera; questo è il video tratto da YouTube.
Come potrete vedere dalle immagini, il meccanismo ha una cupola tondeggiante, delle "braccia" triangolari rotanti attorno ad un perno centrale, nonché degli scudi inclinati molto simili a quelli del "nostro" UFO. Anche il suono che questo oggetto produce, pur non essendo il medesimo di UFO, ha la stessa caratteristica, ovvero, il ritmo e la ripetizione ossessiva di due suoni alternati.
Ma ciò che più stimola la nostra curiosità è il fatto che lo staff che ha realizzato tale episodio annovera, come Assistant Director, un certo Frank Hollands già noto per il suo contributo alla serie UFO.

Con questo, non vogliamo proporre delle forzate analogie delle quali non abbiamo avuto riscontro (abbiamo cercato di contattare Frank Hollands tramite i nostri contatti gli Studi di Pinewood, ma pare che egli non sia rintracciabile), ma semplicemente presentarvi l'ipotesi affascinante che questo "meccanismo" non sia altro che il precursore del nostro disco volante preferito.

We have recently noticed, just by chance, an amazing analogy between an episode of the 4 th season of The Avengers, titled The House That Jack Built and our favourite show.
The item in question is a strange spinning device, that Mrs. Peel finds in the mansion where she has been convicted. Here is the video from YouTube.
As you can see from the screen shots, the mechanism carries a round dome, some triangular spinning arms around a central axle, as well as some inclined shields very similar to *our* UFO. Also the noise produced by the device, although totally different than the one we know, seems to have the same features: rhythm and the obsessive repetition of two alternate noises.
What stimulates our curiosity the most, is the fact that this episode’s staff includes as Assistant Director Mr. Frank Hollands, who appears to have worked also on UFO.

With the above, we do not want to force similarities that have not been verified (we tried to get in touch with Mr. Hollands, but he seems not available), but simply to present this fascinating theory that this device may be the ancestor of our favourite flying saucer.
